Oh Viv. After hearing spoilers that a secondary character was going to buy it then telly vision of the West Ham ball and then spotting it behind his desk at the beginning, my thoughts were "no, not Viv!" Bastards! Even though there really aren't many secondary characters to pick from. It was Viv or Luigi, and I didn't want them to off him either. Back again to bastards!
Especially Keats, you sod! That was creepy, and adds more to the Gene and Keats battling for souls theory.
I'm still on the "Dead copper is Gene theory" team, Alex finding his photo in the desk another nice piece of evidence, though they could still take it in another direction. And when he looked at the office after Alex asked what she needed to do to help him, was I the only one thinking that he needs her to take Gene's place? With the body being uncovered, and Keats talk of how the 80s world is tied to Gene and that he was going to bring it down, Gene needs someone to keep it going. Though that means it looks like Gene's not getting out of the series alive, or perhaps gone from the 80s world is a better term to use. Which would make perfect sense, but still, Gene!
Sam! Creepy, knock off brand Sam was creepy, and really well played by that actor, those mannerisms were spot on. Now, is he a con man, a red herring, or John Simm wanted too much money? He was Sam's last collar, so does he tie into Sam's "death"? Because Gene if did kill Sam, it was only in the sense of faking his death. Sam is in hiding, but why? Who would he need to hide from? Keats?
My head hurts. Lets get shallow. Gene striding at the head of the riot police, without concern for flying missiles, now that was pure cheesy Gene Hunt goodness.
