io9 has an article that articulates a lot of my fears for the big epic Christmas special. I'm worried because there has been an obvious increase in sheer craziness with each series finale, and Waters of Mars continued the trend of good set up which never gets paid off. But perhaps this time will be the one. It could be. Probably not though.
