"Did you wish really, really hard?"
May. 15th, 2011 05:24 pmIt's funny, recalling all the press about how this episode is totally going to redefine how you look at Doctor Who. Because the TARDIS being sentient, loving the Doctor and communicating in human form has popped up quite a few times in Doctor Who media, Big Finish and the EDAs are the ones I am familiar with. Then I remember that the press is aimed outside of fandom, and that yes, it is something that has only been hinted at in the actual show. People outwith fandom watch Doctor Who, who knew?
And it was done very well. The plot, eh, but then again this wasn't about the plot, it was about how Doctor/TARDIS beats all other ships so :P, and their brief chance to be together on the same level. It was all quite lovely and funny and sad.
And Gaiman managed to fit in another debate into canon, that Time Lords can change sex. So Joanna Lumley for Twelve! (Though God knows how Moffat would handle that.)
Killing Rory is a thing now, isn't it.

Date: 2011-05-15 05:56 pm (UTC)This time I liked it, not so much for the death but for the graffiti. What would it take, aside from the long wait (again) to make Rory so full of hate? Great love and great hate are sides of the same coin.
