bibliodragonElisabeth Sladen has died of cancer at the age of 63.
Fuck cancer! It's bad enough we lost the Brig this year, but at least Nicholas Courtney was a fair age. But not Sarah Jane too! 63 is no age at all, she was still so young. From watching The Pyramids of Mars during the Doctor Who anniversary weekend back in 2003, I remember saying to myself I could see why everyone liked her, she was perfectly cute and spunky, but after getting up early on weekend mornings to catch UK Gold repeats, the TARDIS team of Four, Sarah Jane and Harry (also gone too young) became my favorite.
Then a whole new generation got introduced to her, older but just as lovely as before and I can forgive Russel T Davies a million Jesus Doctors for that, and the awesomeness that was a children's show headed by an older woman!
She was always held in high regard by Who fans, I've never heard a bad word about her, and after hearing how nice and friendly she was on the convention circuit, I had always hoped I'd get to meet her one day.

YES!!! What's really touched me is how people who only knew her from the new show are still really sad.
It is such a shock. And so sad, she was so loved and busier than ever with her life. I feel so sorry for her family.
