The love continues.
Having heard so much about the awesome that is Toph, I was thinking that was it in any way possible that a character could stand up to such a build up? The answer is yes. Very much yes. In fact, there are not enough words to describe the awesome that is Toph.
Appa! Noooooooo. It's not fair to mess with the cuddly animal sidekick. That would have been horrible if I had to wait weeks to get to the happy reunion.
And the knife is further stuck in with Tales of Ba Sing Se. Iroh! And then there's that Mako dedication, that's just mean.
The characterization in this series is just wonderful, and puts a lot of adult programs to shame. And it is such a relief to have a story about a chosen one who must save the world where the chosen one is not drowning in angst. Aang has dramatic moments, sure, but is still a kid who likes to play with animals.
No, all the angst goes to Zuko, but despite his bad boy angsty "bar-tending in the dark" I still manage to find him an interesting character. And when the writers have got me hoping and caring that he's going to do the right thing, that's a sign of a job well done. And of course when he doesn't it makes a fine twisting of the knife. Even though I'm all spoiled, it's still a hard thing to watch. Don't betray Iroh you emo sod! Iroh is awesome! Oh, and the heroes of course, yeah, don't turn on them.
Evil season finale is evil.
My Book 3 dvds better arrive tomorrow, or I might get the withdrawls!
