One of those Mytharc stories before it became an actual Mytharc ones, where nothing much happens beyond Mulder and Scully running around a lot with Deep Throat is mysterious, and is only really notable because it introduces the Lone Gunmen. And then I am reminded that Chris Carter is an asshole.

American theatrical preachers creep me out and that's probably down to this. Apart from that it's rather ordinary, apart from random Samantha appearances. And again I am reminded that Chris Carter is an asshole.

Hey look, it's Doc Cottle! Sporting a mustache to rival the frakstache, but unfortunately it is not awesome enough to avoid getting eaten.

And that took a very long time for Mulder to twig that the guy found naked and unconscious in a field, who was sporting scars after being attacked by a monster that turned into a man upon death the night before, just after Doc Cottle got eaten and was now alone with Scully had turned into a shapeshifting beast.

Darkness Falls
The one with the glowing killer midges of death! (also known as Scottish summertime) and one of those episodes that manages to be genuinely creepy, even though the glowing bug effects have really dated badly.
