Picspam: Kung Fu Panda 2

Well, since it is Panda day.

The second that shadow puppet style opening started I was really regretting not seeing this in 3D at the cinema. Or at the cinema period. Good thing for dvds!

Obviously trying to beat the cuteness factor of all those fluffy bunnies in the first one. It works. Dangerous levels of 'Dawwwwww!' here.

The villain is a peacock. That's awesome. A peacock who would totally shiv you! It's like they all sat down and said 'What's the least badass thing we could take and make badass.'

Photobucket
The movements on him are just badass. Seriously, I could just watch they way they animate him fighting all day.

Plus he has great Gary Oldman crazy eyes!

The design, the voice, the interactions with the bad guy: I love the Soothsayer so much! Really, there should have been more of her. I'm just a sucker for the old and oddball wise woman thing.

And a fabulous beard.

I love how subtle the animation is on Tigress when it comes to emotional beats.

Photobucket
And then not when it's needed.

Photobucket
And totally badass. Tigress has to be my favorite female character design in computer animation. Androgynous body, but with a slight touch about the eyes yet without resorting to huge eyelashes. Hmm, one day I have to do that picspam about how the way female animal characters are treated so differently to the male ones.

2D animation! The 2D in the intro of the first one was great, but here it's used even better.

It's used to such great effect here in the Po Remembers scene, the music, the transitions from the computer animation to the 2D of the memory, the dramatic colours offset against the muted blues and greens of the present, in case you can't tell, I really like this scene.
