Ficlet: Walk the Line

[livejournal.com profile] ar_drabbles Sports challenge leads to more Grade School Galactica. That and P.E. flashbacks.

Title: Walk the Line
Author: [livejournal.com profile] bibliodragon
Rating: Gen
Spoilers: None
Word Count: 100

Mission: Dodge Ball!

The first, and most important, task: teams.

Bill stood in front of his classmates frowning. After Saul it became much harder to choose. Ellen was useless, and on that turn he would end up losing one of the competent players to Tom Zarek. But Saul would get upset if she wasn't on their team. Unless he'd sulk that he'd lost the chance to throw balls at her. Gaius was surprisingly good at it, but was weird and had a perfectly forged note to get out of sports.

"Laura." Only because he didn't want her on Tom's team.

The first thing I thought when I saw your name was 'I wonder if she's done 'school sports'.

This challenge seemed like a perfect opportunity for a quick visit to that amusing world and I'm happy to say that you really have done a wonderful job with it. I love Bill carefully weighing up the pros and cons of his choices, find the comment about Gauis hilarious and entirely plausible and the final line is perfect. That's definitely the ONLY reason he picked Laura. ;)

Very entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you.

Ha, it seems obvious though it took me a little while to realize that of course there was room for school sports.

And Gaius has amazing skills at not getting killed an not getting hit in the face with dodge balls.
